Snow Hill, Maryland (September 26, 2023) – Area businesses, residents, and visitors are invited to join Worcester County Recycling to recycle oyster shells. Currently, shells can be disposed of in a specially marked recycling bin at the Central Landfill in Newark, with additional oyster recycling sites to be available soon.
The Worcester County Public Works Recycling Division will host Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Day on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Landfill in Newark, Maryland.
HHW, computer towers, and laptops may be dropped off for safe disposal. No keyboards, mouses, or other electronics will be accepted.
Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including Recreation and Parks, will be closed Monday, October 9, 2023, for the Columbus Day holiday.
The five branch libraries will also be closed for staff training.
The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers will be open Monday during standard hours of operation.

Snow Hill, Maryland (September 21, 2023) – With a tropical storm warning in effect for the Lower Eastern Shore beginning Friday evening, Worcester County Emergency Services (WCES) officials are urging area residents to be #StormReady.
National Weather Service (NWS) forecasters are predicting that a tropical storm will drop up to four or more inches of rain, wind gusts around 50 mph, which may cause significant tree and power line damage and localized flooding in poor drainage areas, and moderate tidal flooding.
Snow Hill, Maryland – Plans to construct a new Pocomoke City Branch of the Worcester County Library are officially underway. On September 5, 2023, the Worcester County Commissioners locked in the architectural services of JSD, Inc. of The Design Group to develop detailed design plans to construct a new, one-story branch library in Pocomoke.
