Snow Hill, Maryland (July 10, 2024) – Worcester County Water and Wastewater was notified this morning by Artesian Water Company representatives that the Nantucket Service Area will be without water temporarily due to a water main break. 

Artesian Water representatives are working to repair the mains that supply water to Nantucket. The length of time needed to repair the lines is not known at this time. Please refrain from doing laundry in the immediate time. 

The Worcester County Library is seeking community input on the library’s next strategic plan. A survey is available on the library’s website (WorcesterLibrary.org).

Look for the “Take Our Survey” tab or click HERE. The survey asks respondents how or if they currently use the library, what their experience is like, and what types of programs and services they would like to see the library offer.

On July 9 a portion of Murray Road will be closed while crews work to replace a failed crossroad pipe. Repairs should be completed the same day. DETOUR: motorists can take Peerless Road to Whaleyville Road to Murray Road. For further assistance, please contact the Roads Division at 410-632-2244.

Worcester County Department of Social Services (DSS) reminds the public that grocery assistance is available to eligible families with school-age children when school meals aren't available.

Snow Hill, Maryland – (June 21, 2024): Effective immediately, Worcester County Fire Marshal Matt Owens issued a burn ban, and ALL outdoor burning is banned for an indefinite period of time in Worcester County.

Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including all five Branch Libraries and Recreation and Parks, will be closed Wednesday, June 19, 2024, for Juneteenth, National Freedom Day.

The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers will also be closed.

WCG offices will resume standard operating hours on Thursday, June 20.

Nassawango Road – partial closure June 11

A portion of Nassawango Road will be closed on Tuesday, June 11th to install new pipes under the road. The work should be completed that same day. Detour: motorists may utilize Whitesburg Road to Oak Hall Road to Scotty Road. For further information, contact the Roads Division at 410-632-2244.

Snow Hill, Maryland (June 10, 2024) – The Worcester County Commissioners appointed Katy Vieira to serve as the emergency preparedness manager within the Worcester County Department of Emergency Services (WCDES). Vieira stepped into her new position in late 2023.
