Traffic Alert: Bayside Road at Tanhouse Creek in Public Landing Rescheduled for Aug. 4-5

07/28/25 UPDATE: Due to extreme heat conditions, this project has been rescheduled for Monday-Tuesday, Aug. 4-5.

 

Wed.-Thurs., July 30-31, Bayside Road in Public Landing will be closed while crews replace some of the wood bridge decking boards that have become cracked, decayed, or warped. For more information, contact the Roads Division at 410-632-2244.

Worcester County Commissioners Appoint Chris Shaffer as New Emergency Services Director

Snow Hill, Maryland – The Worcester County Commissioners are pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Shaffer as the new director of Worcester County Emergency Services (WCES). He will step into his new role with Worcester County Government on August 11, 2025. Shaffer will oversee WCES, which includes the 911 Communications Center, Emergency Management, and the P25 800 MHz Radio Division.

The Worcester County Fair returns to John Walter Smith Park in Snow Hill August 8 – 10, 2025. Entrance is free, and fair hours are Friday from 4-8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“We are excited to host the County Fair for the second consecutive year and to honor the agricultural heritage that means so much to the people of Worcester County” Recreation and Parks Deputy Director Jacob Stephens said.

Worcester County Warns About Email Scams Claiming Development Related Fees Owed

Snow Hill, Maryland – Worcester County Government (WCG) warns the public about an email scam designed to trick residents and business owners involved in the permitting and plan review processes into wiring money for alleged fees. The scammers impersonate Development Review and Permitting (DRP) staff members and claim the recipient must pay a fee without delay.

Worcester County Government offices closed for Independence Day on Friday, July 4

In observance of Independence Day, Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including all five Branch Libraries and Recreation and Parks, will be closed Friday, July 4, 2025.

The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers will also be closed on July 4 and reopen July 5 during standard operating hours.

WCG offices will resume standard hours of operation on Monday, July 7.

July 15 Public Invited to Open Forum on Future of Outdoor Recreation in Snow Hill

The public is invited to a town hall meeting with Snow Hill, Worcester County Tourism and Economic Development (WCTED), and National Park Service (NPS) Chesapeake Gateways professionals to discuss the future of outdoor recreation and adventure in Snow Hill. The meeting will take place Tuesday, July 15, from 5-7 p.m. in the Worcester County Government Center’s first-floor board room at 1 West Market Street in Snow Hill.
